Q. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are proudly located in south-central Kentucky halfway between the two small towns of Columbia and Greensburg.  We are about 2 hours from Louisville, Lexington and Nashville. We are about an hour from Elizabethtown and just an hour and fifteen minutes from Somerset and Bowling Green.  We might be "off the beaten path" but don't let that fool you, our recommended food, floral and music vendors can't be beat!

Q. WHAT TIME ZONE ARE YOU IN?

We are located in the central time zone.  We are very near the eastern time zone.  Please be mindful if you're traveling from the eastern time zone we are 1 hour behind you.  Don't worry.  If anyone gets confused on your wedding day they simply arrive an hour early.  At least they are not an hour late!

Q. DO YOU HOST WINTER EVENTS?

No.  We are a seasonal venue and open for events April - October. However, we give tours year-round!

Q. IS THE BARN AIR-CONDITIONED/HEATED?

A.

No.  In keeping the historic charm of our authentic structure we have chosen not to install "climate control".  However, we are located in a valley surrounded by trees, streams and a meadow that shades beautifully in the afternoons.  To our benefit, tobacco barns were placed for good airflow as part of the tobacco drying process.  With that said we have a delightful breeze most all the time.  With most ceremonies happening between 4-5:30 you'll find our beautifully shaded meadow is perfect!  By the time the party starts, night is falling and temperatures drop naturally.  Even so, we have plenty of fans to assist when necessary.  As for heat, we use patio heaters to knock the chill in the early spring and late fall.

Q. DO YOU REQUIRE CERTAIN VENDORS?

No!  But, we do require professionals who are licensed and insured in their respective trade.  We do encourage you to choose your vendors from our preferred list as we are confident they will provide a wonderful service for you.  Rest assured the vendors we recommend have earned their spot on our list!

Q. WHAT IS THE RAIN PLAN?

A.

Most often we simply move the ceremony into the center aisle of The Barn.  You may also choose to rent a tent and continue on with the ceremony outdoors. Some couples actually choose to get married inside regardless of the weather.

Wedding & Reception policy

Minimum policy requirements:

General liability $1,000,000.00 combined single limit.

If you are on the property the day prior for set up, rehearsal and/or rehearsal dinner, your policy must cover BOTH days.

If Lessee plans to serve alcohol at the event, your policy must include  "Host Liquor Liability".

Q. IS THERE A GUEST LIMIT?

A.

Our legal capacity inside the barn is 230 guests.  However, to have the dance floor, buffet, cake & gifts, etc., all inside we recommend staying under 180.  For larger guests count our patio space works nicely for overflow or you can always rent a tent.  We have hosted events up to 400 guests.

Q. DO YOU HAVE MY DATE AVAILABLE?

Q. I WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AROUND. CAN I JUST DROP BY?

A.

Since this is private property with a locked gate you will need to schedule a tour.  This allows us to give you our undivided attention.  Don't worry.  We will never pressure you to book.

Q. HOW DO I RESERVE MY DATE?

A.

Dates are reserved on a first come first serve basis. We require a $900 down payment and a signed contract to reserve the date. Payments are not refundable.  The balance will be paid in 2 more installments.  The second payment will be due at the halfway point between booking and your event.  The final payment is due 30 days before your event.  Any add-ons are due the day before your event.

Q. WHAT IS THE AVERAGE BUDGET OF COUPLES GETTING MARRIED AT THE BARN AT CEDAR GROVE?

The average budget of a couple getting married here is between $13,000-$15,000 for all wedding expenses (venue, catering, dress, DJ, photographer, etc.). Some couples with smaller guests lists host beautiful weddings in the $6,000 - $9,000 range. We have also had several events here that spend significantly more than the average price range.

Q. DO YOU ALLOW DOGS ON-SITE TO PLAY A PART IN OUR WEDDING DAY?

Yes!  We love dogs!  However, you must follow our guidelines.   Dogs must be on a leash and someone must be responsible for them at all times other than the bride and groom.  If they stay are left in the Bride's Cottage or Groom's Cabin during the festivities they must be crated.  Also, please note that our rental homes at Garrison Farmstead are not pet friendly.  Please ask about our local service provider who will pet sit/board for you.

Q. WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Cash, check or credit card.  Online payments are accepted through our Quickbooks account.  Please note, a 3.4% convenience fee applies to all credit card payments.

Q. DO YOU INCLUDE A "WEDDING DAY COORDINATOR?"

A.

No. We do not include a wedding day coordinator in your package.  However, you will always have our barn team on hand to assist you throughout your time here.  We allow you to hire your own wedding planner/coordinator.  We are happy to recommend some wonderful options including our very own team of Sandy & Missy. They can be hired to pull all your plans together or just coordinate your vendors and execute your timeline for rehearsal and day of.  Hiring a professional to at least orchestrate the rehearsal and day of is highly recommended!

Q. CAN WE HAVE FIREWORKS ON THE PROPERTY?

No. Fireworks and floating lanterns are not permitted. However, we do allow sparklers as long as you stay within our guidelines.  Sparklers must not be longer than 30 inches.  Only lit outdoors in the designated area at the designated time.  Our team will provide a bucket to extinquish/dispose of them after use.

Q. CAN VEHICLES BE LEFT OVERNIGHT?

No vehicles can be left overnight. Please advise your guests of this policy and make arrangements accordingly. The gates will be locked at midnight.

Q. WHAT TIME DO WE HAVE TO BE OFF THE PROPERTY?

A.

Your party must be over and clean up underway by 11pm central time.  Our team will handle cleanup and assist you in gathering your things.  Everyone must be gone by midnight.

Q. ARE CANDLES ALLOWED?

A.

Yes, candles are allowed as long as the flame is completely contained in a candle holder.  We do not allow open flames or taper candles.
